Perhaps one of the oldest conspiracy theories, there are many perspectives. Do non-human aliens exist?
Whether aliens exist or not, a danger is that the threat of non-human aliens can be used to create propaganda and fear. In fact, there have been warnings to that effect – a fake alien invasion. (video 5 mins)
The technology to fake an invasion exists. With wireless, drones, holographs, directed energy weapons, and sophisticated audio and visual effects, it would be possible to put on a tremendous (and deadly) show.

The first time the experiment was undertaken, the ship didn't completely disappear, and an imprint of the hull could be seen sitting in the water. The second time, the ship totally disappeared in a green fog for 15 minutes and was reported seen in Norfolk, Virginia by the civilian crew of the S.S. Andrew Furuseth.
