Freedom Convoy 2022
Canadians began to protest in ernest against COVID-19 overreach (masking, vaxpass/QR codes, lockdowns, testing mania) condoned through invoking emergency legislation by all levels of Canadian government (federal, provincial, municipal) when truckers and some of their supporters gathered to leave British Columbia early in the morning on Sunday, January 23, 2022, to begin a Freedom Convoy to the capital city, Ottawa, in Ontario and scheduled to arrive on Saturday, January 29, 2022.
By the time the convoy of mixed vehicles arrived, it had easily surpassed the 7.5 km largest parade of trucks on record in the Guinness World Book of Records (website), extending to 70 kms (43 miles).
Smaller tributary convoys drove from the east coast, various cities throughout the country and the United States to join with team in Ottawa.
The truckers created a spark of hope that ignited similar movements across the globe (Israel, France, USA, ) including several supporting protests across Canada.

Opposition
It quickly became apparent that Prime Minister Trudeau had no plans to meet with the truckers to listen to their concerns.
In fact, Trudeau came out denigrating the protesters as a “fringe minority” holding “unacceptable views”. (video [mark 1:00]) (Appendix C)
While amazing and inspiring to some, the truckers’ movement took serious hits from government and corporate media:
• Mainstream/corporate media/government touted how racist, violent, terrorist, messy, thieving, and obstructive they are (they’re not). (video)
• Truckers’ first GoFundMe was cancelled after it hit $10 million.
• Truckers’ second GiveSendGo (US$8.8 million) has an injunction requested by the provincial government, plus Ottawa and the province are after the money.
• Money was touted to be from ‘foreign entities meddling in Canadian affairs’ (since GiveSendGo donations are in US$).
• On February 11, 2022, the provincial government declared a state of emergency to deal with the truckers as they see fit (i.e. police, military, power grab)
• Opinions of Canada’s population has polarized for/against the truckers’ action.
• Police stopping fuel trucks from servicing the big rigs; confiscating jerry cans.
• Agent provocateurs. (video 14 mins)
Crowdfunding
One particular GoFundMe crowdfunding cause, Freedom Convoy 2022, was setup with a $20,000 target by Tamara Lich, Medicine Hat, AB and B.J.Dichter that astonishingly raised $10 million in less than 3 weeks showing that Trudeau’s “fringe minority” was way off the mark.
At the end of January 2022, GoFundMe had taken the Freedom Convoy 2022 off the website home page despite being a top 10 fundraiser by dollar amount ($8+ million).
By the beginning of February 2022 with the GoFundMe fundraiser exceeding $10 million, GoFundMe bowed to political pressure and made the decision to pause the fundraiser for review.
The well-organized truckers’ administrative group quickly incorporated a charity Freedom 2022 Human Rights and Freedom Association (Freedom 2022) to address all of GoFundMe’s issues.
GoFundMe decided to cancel the fundraiser and return donators money on request with the residual amount planned to be dispersed to approved charities.
After many complaints to GoFundMe and threats to investigate the situation by several USA governors (Desantis) and attorney generals, as well as large numbers of donators demanding chargeback fees be applied by credit card companies for lack of service at $15-25 per transaction, GoFundMe decide to automatically reverse all ~110k+ transactions.
Freedom 2022 setup another fundraising page at Christian site GiveSendGo who promised not to bow to political pressure and deliver the funds as per their mission statement.
Corporate media complaints that the GiveSendGo fundraiser was attracting money from outside of Canada (namely racist right-wing US groups) was belied by the fact that the business operated in US dollars. Canadians paid an exchange rate to donate the funds, and the truckers paid an exchange rate to accept the funds.
The new GiveSendGo fundraiser reached US$8 million within days.

On March 16, 2022 GiveSendGo announced by e-mail that they would be returning donations to the givers since “the Canadian government has criminalized the receiving of funds from the Freedom Convoy 2022 campaign and now are trying to seize the funds to redistribute. In order to protect our Givers and the intended purposes of their gifts, funds not already transferred to the recipients from the 'Freedom Trucker Convoy' campaign will be refunded automatically, no refund requests necessary. Additional information will be posted shortly.”

Bad Media Coverage
Two years of pandemic emergency response by all levels of government and intensive day by day coverage by corporate media has shown the propaganda puppets of the government.
CBC, CTV, Toronto Star, CNN, Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, Guardian, Mashable became notorious for narrative journalism that was often biased and misdirecting, rarely thorough, and sometimes advancing downright lies.
Fact checkers (Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH)) tout their dubious articles/opinions. Who fact checks the fact checkers?

Good Media Coverage
Realizing that corporate media was/is painting the truckers, their supporters and organizers in a bad light, serious effort was put into proving that the group were/are true everyday Canadians with peaceful protest and the best intentions in mind. Flying the Canadian flag is an act of defiance so Canadian flags are everywhere. Removing garbage, shoveling snow, feeding anyone, bouncy castles for the children, pancake breakfasts and using the power of the people to support other Canadian causes.

Windsor, ON Ambassador bridge
Blockade taking place on the off-ramp of the Ambassador Bridge. An additional blockade has been set up on the bridge’s on-ramp to Michigan, effectively preventing any and all traffic from passing through. Coutts, Alberta
The people in Coutts have been protesting for almost two weeks against COVID restrictions and vaccine mandates in solidarity with the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa. (Adam Soos e-mail)
Milk River, Alberta
Hundreds, and at times, thousands of people have come down to support the blockade in Milk River, Alberta, where they have erected a makeshift village along the highway in support of the truckers just south of them in Coutts.
Contrary to what you may have heard about the situation in Milk River, the vehicles there are all parked on the side of the road. Only RCMP and police are impeding the flow of traffic on this highway.
Enforcement has also been ramped up in Milk River. Truckers, farmers, and supporters were moved to a designated protest area and warned of police action if they didn’t comply. That enforcement came two days ago (9-Feb-2022) when police issued traffic violations to every car participating in the protest. But none of this has swayed people to pack up and go home. Thank you for your generous donations. Despite news reports, please know that the Ontario Government does not have possession of your donations. The Order announced by the government is only a temporary block of your donations to be passed on to the truckers by Freedom 2022 to the truckers here in Ottawa.
Our legal team is challenging the government’s order and we are working at ways around this.
Once again the repeated actions by governments to prevent your donations from getting to the Ottawa truckers shows the importance of this fight for freedom.

Many of you might recall that in November 2022 the Canadian Federal Government announced that cross boarder travel would require a vaccine passport, even for truckers who are considered essential workers. This was considered controversial because the trucking industry was already experiencing a shortage of truckers driving up the cost of transport for essential goods like food that Canadians relied on to be imported from the US during the winter. Many of you also might recall that on January 11 the federal government announced that they would be dropping the mandate for truckers to be vaccinated to cross back into the Canadian border which seem to indicate that the federal government was heating the warnings of industry experts. And many of you also might recall that the next day the federal government flip-flopped and reversed its decision to drop the mandate for truckers to be vaccinated to re-enter Canada without being quarantined for multiple days on end. After this flip flop, individual truckers began announcing their intentions to Convoy to Ottawa to protest. Multiple fund raisers popped up, and Tamara’s emerged as the symbol of hope and freedom as she joined the convoy riding with Chris Barber leading the convoy to Ottawa. Along the way she covered the convoy on video live steams and social media. All her social media has now been cancelled… which again only proves that the truckers and protesters are right.

Thank you all for your generosity supporting the truckers\' protesting passports and coerced medical procedures lead by our courageous truckers. The protest fundraiser has achieved success beyond our wildest dreams and in ways we never could have predicted. Tamara’s humble vision to support her trucking friends in their protest efforts, hoping to raise $20,000 for their journey, has become a symbol of hope for individual freedom and sovereignty. It has inadvertently exposed foreign globalist interference as they clamour to cease the donations of mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers. This humble grass roots movement appears to have led these powers into knee jerk reactions that repeatedly validate the protesters’ concerns. They are protesting government overreach. What does the government do in response to that protest? Overreach even more. Our victories come easier and easier as they continuously prove the protesters right.
To provide clarity and transparency regarding the breath-taking growth of this fund raiser, please note that the original written explanation on GoFundMe to raise funds is no longer available. The original explanation was more general allowing for support of the truckers in whatever ways were needed to support their protest. The existing fundraising post is the result of communications between GoFundMe and Tamara and her original team which lead to continuous editing of the campaign posting into more specific uses of funds which GoFundMe began to interpret as a paralyzing restriction on the use of funds. Restricting the support of the protesters was never the intent of the fundraiser nor is it the intent of the donors. Whatever ethical and peaceful aid the Charter Right protesters require is what the donors want to provide, and the administrators of the fund will not unnecessarily restrict the use of the funds to support them. Here are some examples of what we believe the donors endorse as a proper use of their funds to support the protesters:
- Fuel for travel and warmth
- Necessities of life like water, food, shelter, and more
- Legal aid
- Financial aid
- Permanent infrastructure for continuing advocacy in whatever form that takes
- Office staff and personnel to permanently support them
- Other as required
Thank you all so much for donating to support the truckers. And thank you to Give Send Go for untying our hands to help pass on the support of the donors to the truckers who took the lead in gaining back our Charter Rights and Freedoms.
