Do As I Say Not As I Do
‘Rules for thee but not for me’. For example, the response of public health officials and governments to the COVID-19 pandemic has been confusing and harsh. Yet for the most part, the people have done their best to comply to rules that seem, at best, too late and otherwise, arbitrary.
The people reasonably expect government representatives, public health officials, and lobbyists to practice what they preach.
So when government representatives, public health officials and lobbyists are caught breaking the rules that they personally advocate, there results a flurry of criticism. Here are some examples.
