Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) News

A genetically modified organism (GMO) is any organism whose genetic material has been altered use genetic engineering techniques. 

In agriculture, hybridization and grafting have been practiced for centuries to cross two genetically different individuals to result with different, often preferred traits.  Today companies are experimenting with the exchanging genes of different plants to develop preferred traits, as well as mingling different species (i.e. attaching a root worm’s gene(s) into a plant to discourage that root worm species from attacking the plant) called “transgenic”.
