Temagami

Temagami is a municipality in northeastern Ontario, Canada, in Nipissing District with Lake Temagami at its heart.  (Wikipedia)

The area is famous for its old growth red and white pines and over 4,000 km of canoe routes.

The Solace Wildlands are Temagami’s last tract of roadless, virgin forest.  The Wildlands have never been logged and enfold historic campsites and portages.

The Solace Wildlands hold the headwaters for the lakes within Solace Provincial Park and the Sturgeon River Provincial Park.  Solace Wildlands-area lakes are natural trout lakes.  Only 1% of Ontario’s freshwater lakes contain lake trout, which represents 25% of all trout lakes worldwide.

The Solace Wildlands is a wildlife corridor connecting three provincial parks and a conservation reserve.
